    Retro Roundup Empty Retro Roundup

Post by Eggbert Sun Nov 28, 2010 2:43 pm

This was just an idea I've had kicking about for a wee while now but never had any reason to try and get it going. The plan is to try and find some older PC games that most of us have (or can easily get a hold of) and try to have a good old fashioned game of MP in them.

Games that have co-op capabilities would be a treat, but I know that ain't all of them. Right now I only have one in mind, that being System Shock 2 co-op, but SS2 itself is difficult to get running on some modern computers let alone the co-op section of it. Cry

If anyone is interested in giving it a try by all means say so, but other suggestions would be more than welcome. Grin

    Current list of possible games:
Sven Co-op (requires the original Half-Life)
    Duke Nukem 3D
    AvP2 Co-op Mod

Great great great feckin' idea. There's a few ARPG's out there that are widely available, and Duke 3D had some killer MP. I'll get a list together and we'll see who and what we can get. Grin

Duke 3D sounds like a good idea, especially in co-op. I guess Doom should be on the table as well then.

I'm going to see about an emulators being able to connect over the internet. It would be great to play some TMNT or Smash TV or old arcade games. :D

We need to rent a four man server for a month JUST so Rho can play through Half-life.

How much do you think a four man server for Sven would cost?

not much i dont think, pricing is normally based on slots, id hazard a guess at around a max of 10 quid a month, if its more - you better be getting a lot of extras

Maybe I'm just pissing in the wind here, but would anyone still be up for any of these old games? It seems like we could do with a new group activity to give things a much needed kick up the arse.

One game i loved as a kid was Empire Earth. Even though the original servers are down, there are now fan made server programs out there. If we can figure out how to get a server running, we can play whatever map we we want. (since many of the good ones like tower defense are still downloadable)

Well its not a Tower Defense game. Its a RTS that has many ages from pre historic to the future. The TD game was a multiplayer map someone made using the in game map editor.
