You've likely read my sister's version. Well, it seems that any kind of personal ear tech will be killed by one of us.
    FFFFFFF-

You can ask her, she bought me these not too long ago but, since I'd already bought these so I never used them.
Then I lost the little black bit for the white ones and used to the red ones... for about a week before I KILLED THEM.

This comes after I killed the old version of these around three times, which is frustrating because they're EXPENSIVE AS ALL HELL.

Now I'm back to using the white ones (with the black bud thing from the dead red ones) but they probably won't last long. It takes about a year maximum for my earphones to fail so that one side won't work.

    HALP PLZ!

Sony budget dj slash monitor headphones. Cheap. Good sound. Chunky and hard to break wires. Downside is the little arms that hold the earmuff bits look delicate.

How exactly are you killing your earbuds? This is important.

This. Even I don't get it. I've had my pair of headphones for nearly two years and they're in perfect shape. I may not use them as much as you but I carry them almost everywhere and they're way chunkier.

So yeah. You know what I'd suggest.

I don't know! Maybe it has something to do with the fact that they are always around my neck, wherever I go.

So are mine but but it has never resulted in any KILLING of my headphones. Maybe it's taken part in maiming them a little bit, but alas, brought no certain death to my headphones has been imparted. I think you should be nicer to them. Maybe they're committing suicide.

    That made me laugh/cough.
I dunno. They never get caught on anything. I guess I sorta pull them around my neck though ('cause I prefer the wire at the back).

I DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M DOING, WHY DON'T THEY LIKE ME?!

    1.) Don't buy Skullcandy
    2.) Don't buy Bose

Both companies are a scam, you over pay for products of inferior quality to what they offer.

If you're looking for some strong and durable IEM's you can see about picking up some Sleek Audio SA1's because even with some act of god that you kill these buggers, you're not going to damage the drivers inside the buds themselves, but 90% of the time, break the cable. The cable with SA1's is detachable and easily warrantied or you can buy a new one for only a few dollars plus shipping.

SA1's are some of the best budget buds you can get that'll be fixed or repaired easily. There are a few different buds that are better for the price in USD ($80) but these are by far the easiest to fix; and honestly comparing them against other buds that cost about the same; on most of your portable media players, you won't notice a difference in the quality unless you include a Amp like the FiiO E5

So from the realms of Tot audio, there's my two bits.

I used to rock a pair of Marshmallows back when I did use earbuds, or indeed, when I did go into public. They were good for me, lasted as long as I used them.

JVC HAFX33B Marshmallow<- You can get a cheaper set than 60 bucks. I had a 20 dollar set that lasted me just fine.

The more options, the better I suppose.

Marshmallows are the best side of low end buds.
They should only run you ~$20 USD at most, but can usually be found around $15.

Unfortunately between Marshmallows and good buds (like the SA1's) you won't find much inbetween (price vs quality wise.)

Little known fact, but almost all buds in the $10-$70 range are actually made from the same internal driver in China.

    Wouldn't doubt it Tot.

The Marshmallows were the only ones that stayed in my ears, which gives me even more fond memories. NO earbuds ever stayed in my ear. But they did. Buck Teeth

Gizmodo had a very small write-up on it (for a topic as potentially large as this one is.)
    http://gizmodo.com/5617200/the-secret-scam-of-cheap-earbuds

Marshmallows are still some of my favorite buds; and adittedly on a iPod or iTouch; you won't really notice the difference between SA1's and Marshmallows.
Though that's because of the DAC that Apple uses in most of it's i-devices.

Zune, Cowon, & Archos PMP's all use a better DAC so the difference is much more clear.

The only way mine's broken (headset wise) is accidentally rolling over the chord or overestimating the length of the headphones while moving around my room, thus pulling the chord quite hard and fucking up the internal wiring.

Normal headphones that I've broken are due to falls, extreme weather, or hands of nephews. :C

Those actually use a half decent driver in them.

Though I do hate the "iPod" style of circular insert on those. I find that style terribly uncomfortable.
