Throwdown is a post-hardcore groove metal band out of Orange County, California, founded in 1997. Now, the stuff that got me into Throwdown isn't their early stuff. Their albums up until the previous two were labeled hardcore. But their two recent albums, Venom and Tears and Deathless, are a page out of Pantera. Their groove metal sound is just that - groovy. They have a great mix of growling and singing, chugging and harmonies, bass and drum, just an epic mix. The vocals are a mix between Pantera's Phil Anselmo and Godsmack's Sulley Erna, but with quite a bit of originality thrown in. The vocalist finds a great balance between hard line and harmony, and walks it beautifully, more noticeably in Deathless. The music is thrash and groove inspired, chugging away and making you want to beat your head up and down, and then BAM! harmony hits and you can't help but feel everything as you sing along. This is honestly the closest we are ever going to get to that beautiful Pantera chemistry we saw in the nineties before, god bless, Dime died.

Don't believe me? Just listen, in two tracks:

This is exactly what I see in my brain when I hear the word metal. I absolutely love this southern, bluesy, groovy metal, and I fuckin' love me some Throwdown now. They seem like a "fan" band now, but it doesn't matter, I will always listen to them.

If you like metal in general, you will like Throwdown.

I just listened to This Continum and the very first bit of vocals i thought of SlipKnot. But it was pretty good and its heavier than what metal i do listen too. I did some research on them because i like learning that kind of stuff and i find out that they have had more members than slipknot has not to mention none of the current members are original members which is interesting. Anyhow not to bad, not to bad at all.
